About The Artist
A graduate of the Tyler School of Art,
Jay Bevenour has a BFA in Graphic Design and
has been a free-lance illustrator for over ten years.
His work has appeared in quite a number of publications,
many of which you have probably heard of.
He is also an award-winning editorial cartoonist,
His Philadelphia Weekly cartoon
"Hoagie Dip" appears, well, weekly.
Jay Bevenour began painting murals
over four years ago.
Curiously,
this endeavor began around the same time
as the birth of his first child,
who soon became his first
satisfied customer.

How
to Get Your Very Own
Jay Bevenour Mural!
1) Call or e-mail
Jay Bevenour Murals.
Let him know what you have in mind,
be it theme, size, number of walls,
time frame, price, whatever.
Not that you need to have something in mind.
Jay is always up to the challenge of custom designing
something for your walls' needs.
2) Jay Bevenour will respond to your inquiry with
all the enthusiasm of a Wal-mart greeter.
3) Jay Bevenour will pay a visit to the space in question (free of charge).
4) Once there, he'll eye up the room, measure, and take a couple photos.
This visit is a great time to discuss any ideas
that
you and/or your kids
might have. He'll probably do a quick sketch
of the room and as quickly as he arrived....
...
he'll be gone.
OK, enough with the dramatic third person perspective.
5)
In a day or two I'll get you an estimate price and schedule.
6) Once a job is commisioned,
I ask for a 50% deposit to reserve the time
and to cover any
necessary
supplies.
(If you want to see a sketch before you decide that
you want the work done,
I charge $100, which will be applied toward the price
of the mural, but otherwise
will not be refunded.)
7) I'll post a sketch of your room online, like this one. Or these.
8) We'll discuss any
concerns you might have with the sketch,
and take care of them prior to getting started.
9) I come over and paint!

Pricing
In estimating a mural
job, many factors that can affect
the amount of time
the work will take are taken into account, such as:
The number of walls
The complexity of the subject matter and composition
The walls' existing finish and/or texture.
Placement of doors, windows, and furnishings.
Painting around ductwork, heaters, radiators, etc.
The height of ceilings and difficulty of access to certain areas.
Travel distance.
Due to such factors
and the uniqueness of each job,it
is important that
I see each space before
quoting a price.
Etc
All murals are painted
with water-based, acrylic house paints
with an eggshell finish.

Jay Bevenour lives
and works in the
Roxborough/Manayunk/Wissahickon (take your pick) area
of Philadelphia and
is
